Established
in 1999, Creating Worlds is a small, independent publishing company
located in Petersburg, Virginia. We specialize in publishing books
and materials by, for, and about children. Our purpose is to publish
high quality children's products that acknowledge the worlds children
create and those in which they live.
Our
company contributes to the empowerment of children by validating
and celebrating their realities. Through this company, we are
achieving our goals which are to help children (1) build on experiences
that enhance their development and (2) realize that they have
within them the power to create positive, beautiful worlds.
Creating
Worlds consists of a team of professionals who enjoy celebrating
the creations of children. The founder and executive director
of Creating Worlds, Dr. Charlotte L. Orange, has had experience
in both the fields of education and publishing. For more than
twenty-five years in her role as a professional educator, she
has taught students and directed programs at the early childhood,
elementary, secondary and university levels.
Additionally,
she has had extensive experience in teacher education, preparing
students to teach children who are from diverse backgrounds, including
those who have special needs and/or are gifted. Dr. Orange brings
to the company her love and appreciation of children as seen through
the eyes of a mother, teacher, and friend.
